My own mother still justifies her abuse. She remains haughty and calls it “Christian Discipline” when it was and still is, a psychological landmine of mental, emotional, spiritual abuse and exploitation.
She has not stopped the mental control as she masquerades to the outside world as a “Christian” but is, in reality, a Covert Narcissist.
The physical violence from childhood that she calls “Discipline” was, in fact, Ritualistic Abuse, which is unlawful and an act of tyranny against helpless children.
